Lately I've been hearing things and wondering if it's just my mind wandering or if it's mania...So I'm wondering what others have had.

I've been hearing:
-my name being said, like directly into my ear
-someone asking what I'm doing, feels like they're around me
-people talking-can't understand it though, feels like they're around me
-a baby crying, even though there's no baby around
-and music, soft but there

So...any thoughts?

I hear the people talking bit. Usually it's random, but sometimes it's my partners voice all jumbled and such.

I don't hear it in mania, but just off and on with me for some reason.

Question is, are you experiencing other symptoms of mania?....

I have been more energetic lately. Also haven't been able to sleep. That's usually how it starts, but sometimes it doesn't. So not sure.

Not so much now, but in the past (and this was between episodes, so it wasn't because of depression or mania) I've heard my name being repeated over and over again and music being played, but so softly I could barely hear it, and staticky, like a radio station not tuned in all the way. But, this was always rare. I'm more of a visual hallucination kind of person.

I get the music, for some reason it's mostly stuff I don't like and usually staticky. It's most of the time when I'm unmedicated. During mixed episodes it's mostly tactile.

Mine are usually

- hearing indistinct voices, like people having a conversation on the other side of the wall (this is the most common for me)
- soft music, like from a music box
- my mother's voice saying my name (has happened a few times - she lives in a different state)

Mostly it happens when I'm at home in a quiet room, except hearing my name - that's happened several times in public/crowded areas. The conversation and music I can usually reality check by trying to pinpoint the source. It's always directional (coming from behind me/off to my left/etc) but if I try to move closer to it or move to a different part of the room it seems like the sound also moved to stay the same direction/distance from me, if that makes sense.

I get classical music and/or static, like when the radio is between two stations.

I get:

Music, radio sounding music that's random genres, sounds old timey, or marimba music, or classical or made up songs that don't exist but are pretty (usually not too loud though, sounds like it's coming from the next room)

Voices (same thing, sounds distant, like people are chattering about me in the distance or around the corner) or one time my ex talking trash about me under his breath. He was asleep when that happened, so it wasn't real.

Happens when I'm between episodes, or at my baseline which is kind of depressed. Happens more when I'm manic or headed toward mania.

I've heard baby crying even when no baby is near or my baby is fast asleep. I hadn't really thought anything of it until reading this just now. I'm baffled.

I don't hear voices, I get thoughts that are not my own.
I have 2. One is very pure and uplifting while the other is the complete opposite. They are just thoughts that don't come from me. So far it's more prominent during mania.

I have heard music playing before though. It has happened two different times when I was trying to sleep. It was so annoying and happened a few weeks before the depressive state came back.

I hear the distant conversation at times. More frequently is thinking someone is calling my name from a distance. Depressed, hypo, or manic this happens.
