So I had my exam today and can I just say how pissed off it made me? I get the fact that there are people with cognitive issues and counting or the alphabet are difficult for them, but it isn't my problem. I can focus for a short period of time so within the length of the exam I didn't have a problem, but does that mean I can work 40 hours a week intensely focused? No, it doesn't. I work for a local government agency, I am fiscally responsible for millions of dollars and I have become so unreliable that they've taken all but the most basic duties away from me. I understand my work's position, I also understand that due to my career path, I won't be able to work in my field, at least not anytime in the near future. I'm just so upset that I'm sure I failed that stupid test because I can count to 100.

Sounds more like a test for retardation.

Sounds archaic, like they are still not actually clued up on what types of MH issues make you end up sucking at your job.

Its more likely that they set up people to fail though.

I pray I never have to bother with disability. Here in SA its a joke, we would starve to death.

I'm lucky enough that my skill set allows me some flexibility, so I'm trying to work around my bipolarness.

I've worked with my illness for years, and a good chunk of it was med free, however I am with a new agency who isn't friendly to my illness and it has put more stress on an already stressed situation. I know once I get to baseline I can work but I can't work or look for a new job when I can't even get out of bed to bathe most days. It's been 9 months of depression and it isn't looking to let up anytime soon. I just wish it was so much easier to get to a healthy point.
