As some of you know, I have been considering writing a book on bipolar this summer. For more information re that, see this thread: http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=226862

Well, I've decided to do it! My book will give a personal portrayal of bipolar disorder. I want people to know what it is like to deal with this. I also want to emphasize the heterogeneity of this disorder-no two of us are the same.

In order to do this, I will need to interview people with bipolar to get their stories. I am not sure how I will find people. If you have any ideas on how to find people with bipolar who would be willing to contribute, please let me know. Also, if you are interested yourself, please pm me your e-mail address. The interview can be done via e-mail or phone, whichever you feel more comfortable with. Also, all names will be changed in the book to protect your privacy.

I've started a blog concerning the book, which can be found here:http://conversationswithourcondition.blogspot.com/

Thanks everyone!

I've E-mailed you, Secretum. I'm a writer too, but I have NO intention of doing a book on BP so don't worry about any competition here. Good luck with your literary adventures!

You can use anything you would like from my blog. I used it to get it all out after my diagnosis and it follows my med changes through to stability. Leave a comment just so I know it was able to help, if you choose to use it. I would love a copy too. Danisventing.blogspot.com

Big thanks to everyone who offered to contribute! I've already found 11 people to interview, and most of them are members of this wonderful community. Also, the encouraging posts have really energized me. When the going gets tough, I think that I will re-read this thread.

I will send you all some initial questions soon. Thanks again!

Miguel'sMom, I did get your pm. Thank you so much!

All of you are wonderful. Thank you again to everyone who agreed to the interview. You should have received an e-mail/pm containing the first few questions.

I'd like to apologize to a few of you; for some reason, my e-mail reformatted the message so that there was A LOT of space between paragraphs. I didn't catch this until I had sent a few e-mails, so if you are one of the first people I e-mailed, your message looks a little strange. Again, I am sorry for that. Not sure why that happened, but it sure doesn't make me look very professional.

I have wrote a couple articles, only 2 got published. I think you should go for it with all your might. I'm interested to check out the finished product... there is another book out there, pretty recent. perhaps you have read it or heard of it. "Buzzkill". the author has a facebook page and community.
I think people find reading about people's agony to be entertaining and satisfying, and I wish you success.

Hey, can we get an autographed copy of the book when it's published? I can't wait to see how all our personal stories blend together to put a human face on this disorder. Most books about BP are either clinical or autobiographical; yours will be more helpful, I think, because it'll show the wide variety of the bipolar experience. Maybe it'll even show the public that we're not all the same, and that we aren't dangerous or "crazy".....we're just PEOPLE. :-)

Definitely go through with this. It's a great idea. I also must say that it's a pretty courageous endeavor. I'm way too paranoid to do something like this at this point in time.

I will think on offering an interview, however. Good luck and keep that spark alive.

Hey, after abandoning this project for a year and a half, I've decided to finish it! I've got two incomplete chapters written from before, an outline, and I'm working on a book proposal right now. Just thought that I'd let people who had helped me out with this project before know that their help was not in vain. I'll also let you all know via e-mail that I have decided to resume the project.
