Has anyone had weight gain from Depakote? If so, did you lose the weight after coming off or switching medications? I am looking into trying Lamictal. I am 8 weeks postpartum and suffered from severe psychosis due to my BP 1, and now I am feeling much better, but my weight gain is not helping me. I am due to see my psych in a week, where I will ask about switching.

Anyone have this happen? I've gained about 10 lbs since starting two weeks ago, and if you have ever had a baby, you can guess how frustrating that is!

I took it for a little about 6 years ago but I ripped myself off of it because of potential weight gain. Lamictal is weight neutral.

I gained weight on depakote as well. I had to come off it for other reasons but was grateful that once off of it that the weight did come off when switched to another medication. I too have heard fewer weight gain issues with Lamictal.

I wish you well in finding what works best for you and sending good vibes your way as you work through this. Hang in there.

Neurologists have told me they "see weight gain on Depakote all the time."
