I am Bi polar and Bpd, my son is having manic episodes
he is 5 yrs old, w Autism/ Adhd. He will be tested for Bi polar
as well. I have noticed symptoms, ie mania and mood swings.
Serious behavioral probs at school; danger to others, as well
as himself. my hands are so tied, but if he does have bi polar
I will do what needs to be done. I will make sure he will get thru
this too, together.

It takes about 4 hours for the testing. My son has pdd, mood disorder nos, and adhd. He's mood disorders nos because she doesn't want to label him bipolar disorder but is sure he has it but doesn't want him labeled until hospitalization. But he's on bipolar meds.

wait.... he is on anti-psychotic for what essentially is attentional/focus problem?

I never understood the point of downer for this (my special pedagogy profesor claims it's to make things easier for everybody around, not necesarily for the kid involved).

how did he come to be on this drug?

The risperdal helps the autism stimulation, irritability, sleep issues and meltdowns. My son tried risperdal but seroquel helped him more.

VenusHalley- He's not on this medication for solley attention issues. There's better drugs for this if it's the only issue.

In this situation it's hard for both parties. It's about calming the child's distress.

That is exactly what we need; to calm him down, the amxiety, mania,etc...
his neuro doc put him on risperadol, not much. of a change. trying something
new, not sure what its called. not really keen on him trying something new,
he had a bad reaction to metadate. He wuz extremely moody and irritable,
it wuz horrible. we tried Tennex, ritalin, ; sped him up even more. His teacher sees
mania, mood episodes and swings.. I have too.
