My doctor wants to prescribe Risperdal to me again...

I feel like it worked horribly the first time so why should I expect anything different this time?

Have you tried all the other AAP-class drugs? If not, I don't know why you would want to try something that worked horribly the first time. There are quite a few anti-psychotics out there, including the new ones like Saphris, Abilify, and Latuda. Risperdal is an older one with more side-effects than some of the latest ones.

most of the new ones aren't an option because of most insurance.

OP if you don't want to take a drug stand your ground, they can't make you take something you know doesn't work or gives you bad side effects.

I agree with the previous replies - you do not need to take it! I am sure there are plenty more out there that you haven't tried!!

I agree, don't take it. If it didn't work there's no reason to think it will now.

If it made you feel bad the last time you were on it, there's no point in taking it again.

That **** made me so sick I nearly died.

Some bastard shrink convinced me to go on it again only weeks after I stopped it, and big surprise, I ended up sick again from it. Don't do it. I'd even recommend getting a new pdoc asap if possible; they sound deficient if you know what I mean.

I take it with no problems. I did have a terrible mixed episode after I started taking it but since then no problems. I guess everyone is different.

I agree with everyone. There's nothing like taking the wrong psych med. It can make you sick or make matters worse. Fur example I tried wellbutrin once and my body rejected it. Then a new pdoc recommended trying it again and it was worst the second time around. I am on a few meds but a new one I've tried is latuda and it works great and I notice no side effects other than feeling a little numb but that will go away. I was so overly emotional so it's doing the trick to get me stable. Good luck to you.
