As many of you know, I am writing a book on bipolar. It is called Conversations with our Condition: What Bipolar is Really Like, and it is an exploration of how bipolar disorder manifests itself in different patients. My goal with this project is to successfully show the diversity in the bipolar experience, while still conveying a sense of the illness as a coherent whole.
Each chapter of the book begins with a short (~1000 word) intro, followed by 2-3 patient stories on the topic of the chapter. I need help keeping me accountable as I write this book. I have ADHD and am very distracted most of the time. Sometimes, I feel like I'll never be able to get it published anyway, so why put so much effort into it. When I'm depressed or psychotic, I get serious writer's block which makes it impossible for me to pen any worthwhile words. But I can't give up. I owe it to the people whose stories I'm telling to bring this project to completion. I think I'll come back to this thread when I'm having a hard time with the project, and allow all you wonderful people to encourage me. I am also still looking for people to interview for the book; if you are interested in having me tell your story, just send me a pm with your e-mail address, and I will send you some questions. If I decide that your particular story may be good to tell in-depth for a certain chapter, then I will send you some follow-up questions and possibly request a phone interview. I will send you a draft of your story after I've written it. You are encouraged to choose a pseudonym for this project, though I can use your real name if you'd like. Here is a link to my blog on the book: Conversations with our Condition Thanks for your continued support. I greatly appreciate it!
