Do any of you get desires to cut of all your hair, shave it all off and pull out your fingernails? I get these strange feelings like I'm not me and want to get rid of all the dead stuff on me. I think this is from the lack of sleep but I don't know.

I did see the doctor today but I couldn't say this. Long story of how that visit went, not too reassuring. Where I live there are no Pdocs that take both Medicaid and medicare, so I saw a substitute doc as my PCP had an emergency. She took one look at my diagnosis-- still wrongly bipolar I should be BP II.-- and just wanted to hurry.

I do start back on lamictal and restoril, whenever I can figure out how to get to the pharmacy.

I don't shave my head and pull out my nails but I keep both really short. I usually cut my nails down to the quick..

Thanks.I'm just kinda scared.

nothing is feeling real, yet I'm fixating on this idea that nails and hair are dead. It makes me think of those movies where people do some-kind of hard drugs and start seeing bugs under their skin. I don't see anything, and I have no drugs, I'm playing games on the computer one after the other to keep my mind off of it. I know if I did this I would be very very sorry.

I do realize it is just semantics. I just don't like the way some doctors react to that label, like I'm going to suddenly become violent or something. They are in such a hurry to ex cape.

I called the psych emergency services, I'm having something called tactile hallucinations. He was quite nice if the pharmacy can't get my meds by tomorrow he said to come in and they would help me. I did wait too long to see the doc. It's a relief to know there is a name for this. He gave me some suggestions too.

I actually have that a lot, it helps to dye my hair and put up my hair and shape, buff, shine, and paint my nails. We do this with my husband and son also but with mat nail strengthener instead of polish. I'm glad psych er could help.

Actually that was one of the suggestions he gave me. I found an old bottle of polish, it did help. He said it was probably my not sleeping for so long but he couldn't say for sure.
I have no dye but I could put it up, I'm a little bit afraid of cutting it off. It very long. I asked how many unisoms I could sadly take to sleep of course he said whatever the box says. It did help tremendously to talk to him. Very reassuring.
