Right now I am writing this under duress, barely managing to type when before I was a super fast typer now I can hardly type my hands are shaking so bad. I was wondering if you knew about Depakote extended release and what is it called so I can ask my doctor? I have Depakote ER Divalproex sodium right now. Is that the one I want to be on if I'm having tremors, what is the extended release called?

Hi Marshellette, I've been on both Divalproex EC (generic Depakote)and Divalproex ER generic Depakote Extended Release...1500 mg 1xdaily and they both make my hand shake. It first used to bother me when others would see my hand shake...now I say so what there are other things i can think about. Sunshine45 ![]() |

I think depakote ER is the extended release. As for hand tremors people on your other thread gave you some meds that can counteract. In the end it's your decision whether you want to stay on a med that gives you severe side effects or not. Lithium gave me severe shakiness which is why I ditched it. But it also didn't work for my moods...so if these are working you have to decide if you can deal with the effects or not.
Also get your depakote levels checked if possible, they may be too high. That's what happened with the lithium level for me but the dr didn't believe it becUse I was "on too low a dose for that". Yeah bloodwork doesn't lie biotch!
