My meds have changed over the past few weeks. In the past few weeks I have been rapid cycling which is not normal. This may not be episodes of BP rapid cycling. Perhaps this is in response to events or thoughts that I overreact to in extreme ways over little things. My mood first shifts to moderate depression, then rebounds to mildly elevated. This happens allot recently. Sometimes I feel very sad and feel like crying. There are times I am just elevated for a short period of time, where I am euphoric and chatter allot. But this is more infrequent. These swings can happen in short periods of time. These moods always level out to baseline by the end of the day. My baseline now seems to be mildly depressed.

The last several weeks has seen an increase in Lamictal, from 200mg to 300mg, and Zyprexa, from 5mg to 10mg. I wonder if this new med combination does not work well with 60mg of Prozac? Or maybe it is related to an adjustment to meds that my brain needs to deal with? Either way, I think this may be med related. I need to give this a chance. I am in new ground with this being my first mood stabilizer that appears to be working, at least for the most part.

What do all of you think about this?

I think you're on WAY too much Prozac. Frankly, I'm surprised that a pdoc would prescribe that much for anyone with bipolar because it tends to throw us into mania. Maybe you wouldn't need the higher doses of Zyprexa and/or Lamictal if the Prozac were decreased.

I recently stopped Wellbutrin because I was a little too amped-up.

Ive taken a lot of different drug combos over the years, most of which werent right, obviously... but the only drug that ever caused side effects which actually scared me was Prozac. It induced massive episodes of mania, which were far more severe than i usually have, then i would crash hard because the rest of my drug cocktail would try to level me out. I find that its not a good team player. Im not sure where you are but in Australia its not prescribed very often as this seems to be a common complaint.
