I caught that article the other day as well. I couldn't imagine going through this with one of my children. I agree with you that it is tremendously sad. Sometimes I feel like that about myself. I was always ok in my younger days. My issues didn't start till I hit about 35 years old. Since then I've been feeling like I "caught a bug" or something.

I've heard of this before. I wonder if it can affect older adults, too. It may explain medication resistant patients.

I was thinking along similar lines yes, it would certainly explain a lot if it were true for treatment resistant patients...

I wish Nero psychiatry would hurry up and advance and be common because far less mistakes would be made. It bothers me that no one seemed to rule out physical issues first or even take her white blood cell count. I don't think it would have stopped the issue in this case. Its sad that she may not recognize when she needs treatment in the future. At least she was able to get the right treatment. I've heard chicken pox can do similar things.
