However these meds are pretty harsh and I was wondering if I could stop taking them after two months of use, slowly tapering them down until I was on nothing, a sort of stabilizing effect of neurochemicals after the two months and I'd be fine after that like I was fine for two years once on nothing.
Because I don't think Seroquel is a good long term drug, a mood stabilizer is but I can't take any of the mood stabilizers AP's, seizure drugs by themselves, I have to have an anti-psychotic with them to counteract the insomnia I get on seizure drugs. Lithium does not work for me. But they don't work well and make me feel worse than when I'm not on them. So...Should I taper them off and go on nothing?

You should talk to your doctor.

See your doctor. Sound like the familiar "everything is wonderful" type of thinking from a Bipolar.

PS: I do not know if I said this in a wrong way, I am pretty rattled right now.

Well I'm proof that hoping it goes away doesn't work. It doesn't go away. I thought I was free after six years with no meds and yet here I am. While medicating doesn't have to be your only option, hoping it will go away is not an alternative.

I would encourage you to learn as many coping skills as you can and make sure you are in a good place before you taper off. You also need to pinpoint any triggers and have a plan to combat them should they occur. And even then, it will be tough.

To quote trippin 2.0, te head in the sand method does NOT work for bipolar.

Insightful as always Wildflower. We can only MANAGE our illness, not get rid of it.
