Within days Depakote will do it like that, especially on 1250 mg a day as I was, a hundred and thirty pound female. It will make everything blah and you won't want to talk to anyone at first and you'll shake like a toxic plant in the breeze. But one month into treatment, hey, I got use to it.

Using an anticonvulsant to treat acute manic symptoms is not typical first line treatment. Psychiatrists should be making that call anyway.
As an aside, you don't mention your age- but generally depakote should not be first line [nor second line] treatment for women of premenopausal age. [just throwing that out there for general info since you mention the medication] |

Not necessarily. Everyone is different, and medication does different things to different people. Different effects, different side-effects. Depakote works really well for some people. Some people, not so much.
EDIT: that was directed to the OP.

My doctor tried to give me seroquel and I tried it for a week with my cymbalta. It had a very negative reaction to it resulting in an anxiety attack.does anyone have any experience with a reaction like that? It made me kinda scared to try different medicines but I know I will have to until they get my meds sorted out. Im just not sure what to expect. Im new to all of this

Depakote brought my mania to a screeching halt, I was already on saphris...I was only prescribed 500 mg to start and went up to 750. I weigh about the same as you. Now that I'm restabilized I am going back on lamictal.

An antiseizure/anticonvulsant and a salt known as sodium valproate, yes.
