I have been having mood swings that can go full circle within a day. I think this has to do with being investigated by the Adult Protection Services. I do not think this will go anywhere. I am fairly certain. But this still does stress me out. Maybe this is the source of my wild mood swings. I have gone from an elevated mood to crashing on the couch to now elevated again with spending money on the Internet for things I do not need. This is the first time since over a month ago.
The good news is that my daughter is moving in with me. This is good on many levels. She is helping me with my mother, and keeping the house clean. This helps me feel safer and more secure. Life will get better for me. It is just a matter of time before I am not as stressed anymore. I know this. But knowing this does not help me. Could the stress of taking care of my mother and the investigation be causing these mood swings? I have almost never experience them so rapid before.

I'm so happy to hear that your daughter will be moving in with you. I wish I had an answer to your question. I'm not sure anyone can entirely answer that question...I've asked it of therapists, never really received a satisfactory answer. Hmm. I think that stress most definitely can worsen mood issues. Then it all gets to be a vicious cycle...mood probs/stress/more mood probs/stress is worse. It seems that something needs to break the cycle, whether that's medication, movement, time away, or whatever works.

Yes the mood swings can definitely be from stress and unrelated to bipolar on a chemical level. This is about managing your reactions to stressors. Are you working with a therapist? Hope things start to improve soon.

This has never happened to me before. And I have had much more pressing situations than this to deal with. I must be somehow in a vulnerable state of mind. I am a bit puzzled.
