How is it possible to be hyper enough to want to jump out of your skin, and ready to bawl your eyes out at the drop of a hat -- at the same time?!?!?!

I'm either going to have a good cry or go run around the block a few times, and possibly both. confused

Just looking for folks who have been through this (I hope there are a few!) -- I am hanging on by a thread till I see pdoc Wednesday -- and even then, we all know how long meds take to work!

confused confused confused I am used to straight depression -- and I have to say -- this up and down stuff (not to mention the simultaneous stuff!) STINKS.

(((((((((((((((((candybear))))))))))))))))) I know it seems like Wednesday is forever away but try and hang on until you can talk to your pdoc. Yes the meds take a while but you will feel better as you go. Remember we are here and we understand. You are right it can stink until you become stabalized. Just don't lose sight of the fact that you will stabalize. Please take care.

Hey candybear I somewhat understand what you are currently experiencing at the moment. I am in a hypomanic state at this very moment and I just started taking medication about 1 week ago myself. What works for me,is to play my keyboard and write songs. Also, I have taken off from work until I get better. I also walk a great deal but I try to avoid the cars when I am on the side of the road.lol. If you can, find something to focus on and just go with it. A good side effect of hypomania is increased creativity and who knows; you might just find a good hobby while in this state. I really hope everything goes well for you.

It sounds like you are experiencing a "mixed" episode where you have symptoms of both mania & depression. I was diagnosed bp when I was in a mixed episode. I was very agitated & restless & irritable & depressed. The meds work wonders for me, though I have had a few relapses in the last 5 years. I'm starting to recognize when I am going into a depression or mania now & call my doc. Take care. Hope your appt. on Wed. helps clarify things for you. If it is bp, it will take awhile (a year for me) for them to get the right combo of meds for you. There is hope.--Suzy

Sounds like what I was dealing with in November. I see the pdoc tomorrow, but my pcp put me on depakote, and after a few days it has seemed to help alot. Though, it has made me a little slow I think.

I've been on Depakote. I threw up for the first 3 weeks and it made me sleep 20 hours a day. (Luckily I was unemployed at the time!) Later came the unexplained bruising and the hair loss.

Unfortunately, it worked great on my mood! I might ask to go back on it.
