Well, it's official. Based on my history and my current symptoms, I'm told that it doesn't really matter what flavor of bipolar I am, I'm definitely bipolar.

Pdoc gave me the Risperdal back -- I had done well on it for years before the last guy took me off it in favor of something with a better side effect profile, even though I never had a single side effect from Risperdal. I am trying hard not to take half the bottle NOW to get some relief. new dx

I go back in 6 weeks, and she gave me referrals to a couple of potential T's. Guess there's nothing to do now but wait and see. Thanks to everyone who's helped me out in here. I guess this is my new home, hey? new dx

I'm glad you have it resolved and let's hope you and the docs can affectively treat it!

Welcome to the forum new dx

I am so glad that you are getting some support now. It seems that you like your new pdoc which is great. And you are now on a med that has helped you previously. Maybe one of the t she gave you will turn out to be the right one for you. Sounds like a successful day!

Shoot, candybear, I wrote you an extremely informative & helpful post & my computer went down before it got posted! (kidding, lest you all think I'm manic & my opinion of myself is grandiose).

But I've got to get going so the "Cliff's notes" of my post are that you can do much to attain wellness besides taking meds (which may take a while to figure out--don't lose hope--it took a year for me). Like regular sleep, good nutrition, limit alcohol if you drink at all, exercise, good support, taking time each day to have some fun (hobbies), don't let yourself become your diagnosis--you are still "you" who happens to have bp, reduce stress & stress that you can't get rid of learn techniques to handle it, follow a good schedule so you don't become disorganized & overwhelmed. Learn what triggers a relapse in you--even though you are on meds, relapses can happen. Don't get overstimulated in your environment--tough to do around the holidays.

Maybe other people can add some more wellness tools they use.--Suzy P.S. Welcome to this "elite" group!

I'm glad you are on medicine that helps you. I know it made me feel better to get a dx, because it helped things make sense to me. Plus, now you can hang out here with me! Yay! new dx
