When you are manic or depressed do you feel that way 100% of the time during that episode? Or is there little breaks during an episode?

For me I feel like there are moments of more and less for sure whether up or down. I also tend to be mixedish. But yes my episodes can be messy and all over the place which makes them extremely confusing.

For me there's not really any breaks. It just keeps happening and stops when it stops.

For me there's no breaks really. Like right now, I'm in the middle of a depressive episode and there has been no break in the storm unfortunately. When I'm manic it's the same story.

I'm sorry to hear you're in a depressive episode. I'm in the same boat :\

I don't have breaks, really - when I'm manic, I'm manic all the time, but the severity of the mania changes. I'll usually go along all day relatively manic, and then go SUPER FREAKING MANIC at night, and early in the morning is my calmest period (though still clinically manic) and the cycle repeats.

I wouldn't say I have "breaks" per se, but the intensity of it does fluctuate. It can be confusing (and frustrating)!!!

When I'm in a manic or depressive phase, there's no break. For example, this current depressive phase has been going on since I came down from a 2-month hypomanic phase on August 4th. Not only has there been no break, but it's changed in quality/increased in severity.

Depression for me is like being cement.
It's solid, dense, unmoving, unchanging, interminable.
Constant.

The only change I experience is when I'm in mixed. I have the two moods at the same time. Plus my moods will get to the point where I will stay in one mood then flip to the opposite mood with in minutes, hours or days.
