not only do i hate to leave the house to do regular errands on my own, i hate even more having to leave the house for social situations. it causes me so much anxiety. i often cry hysterically before leaving and then am socially withdrawn while there.
i've been avoiding my in-laws for the past month and now it's where i can't put if off anymore (they want to celebrate my bday.. that was two weeks ago, but i didn't have the energy to see anyone.).. but the thing is, we've been having family conflicts with them, they've said some things to my husband that really hurt him, and i'm having a hard time forgiving them for it. so i would rather avoid the situation of me saying something to cause further trouble. (even though i hate being social, i have no problem with confrontation, especially when i'm angry). i guess i will have to try to get through it but gosh it causes me anxiety. ![]() |

I don't leave the house except to shop for groceries and to see the doctor. I can't handle the stress of dealing with people.

If it's your birthday, you are allowed to set limits on how to celebrate. It's nice that they want to do this, but if you aren't up for it, then why suffer through it?
Do you hang out in the anxiety/phobia forum? They may have more support to offer there. Oh, and belated happy birthday ![]()
