I thought all of hypomania was gone. Felt down actually a bit. But since yesterday my mind has been confused again. Its like I have a never ending radio station in my head. I'm constantly hearing songs playing in my head. I'm not too energetic like I was but I have been hard to sleep...taking klonopin like my Dr. told me to though so I have been sleeping.
Does this happen to anyone? What is this? ![]() |

Totally normal (for bipolar I should say). I had the "non-stop radio" going on before I started taking Seroquel as an anti-psychotic. Don't really know what it is, as it happened CONSTANTLY. Regardless of my mood state.

Me too. A radio playing softly in the background, but it seemed to be not tuned
in perfectly, sort of not quite on the station It is sort of comforting at times |

This happens to me when I lay down and try to sleep -- either that or I hold conversations with myself....like one long stream of consciousness dialog...or I make ideas for stuff I want to write (but never remember them later). But I often hear music...just a melody. Happened a lot more when I was an active musician.
Often times, I have something on for noise to sort drown out and focus my attention elsewhere than internal noise I experience. |

I keep a fan going in my bedroom at night. It costs 20 bucks, it circulates the air and cools it down, and the white noise it creates cancels out everything and keys me sleep good at night.

I had that never ending music in my head once before... Right before my extreme mania episode!

I always have a fan on in my room. I live in an old house and sleep upstairs. But I still hear a song constantly. Different songs too. Not just the same one over and over. And sometimes I feel like I have to sing it. My Dr reckons its still hypomania.

I've had endless story ideas and self talk....the self talk has nearly stopped. The rapid fire story ideas tend to slow when I write them down. Have you ever rewritten your entire day to be what you wish it had been. I've done that.

This is awkward, I just got up because I can't sleep because the same words of a song are going over and over in my head and it gets faster and faster. I always thought this was my OCD? I also do this other weird thing where when I hear a word I type it with my fingers over and over again. Then I hear another word and I do the same thing. I don't even realize half the time that all of this is going on. Sometimes this happens for the entire day. Is this OCD or BP, or maybe both?

See, I'm a musician and can't honestly recall a time in my life when I haven't had music running through my head, including while I sleep. That's just must constant state of existence. I don't consider that bipolar related for me though. It's just the way my brain is so geared around music.

I get the music a lot. A fan in the bedroom works well for me.

Blachsheep I did the typing before as well. It disappeared along with counting everything when I started zoloft. I was on it a couple of years and been off of it for over a year and the ocd only comes on certain days maybe a couple times a month. The ocd drove me crazy. I loved having everything spotless but hated that I was so meticulous and couldnt sleep until I felt it was good enpugh and the counti g every damn thing was the worst part of it.

Looks like an number of use white noise to drown out the chatter/music/in our heads. Interesting. I used to use alcohol, bad idea I know, but then I met my wife and quit drinking and she has always needed a fan (or white noise) to sleep, I just adopted that from her.
As a child, I HAD to have music playing, and I would rock back and forth in bed (violently) until I fell asleep, often only getting 3-4 hours of sleep as a kid... My wife says, I still rock gently in my sleep once in a while. Strange...wonder if I can get to tell me when I do it and see if it ties to anything different in my mood chart...like a hypomanic phase. |

Wow. I am so glad I am not alone with this affliction. It goes so far beyond having a song stuck in your head!
I slept 5 hrs last night and my Dr said nothing under 6, ever. I see her again on Tuesday. I was happy and super super talkative all morning then I got home and BAM I was suddenly grumpy for no reason and a bit out of line really. I didn't mean to honestly. I am also tearing up at silly times....like a part in a Harry Potter book! Am I still off or is this just me looking too far into it? I really only am because my Dr was so concerned and I don't want to end up in a hospital again! |

I never thought anything about the music, but yeah I have had that.
One thing that happens for me sometimes is that the internal chatter amps up in volume and speed, and it will include words or phrases that stick out from the rest and repeat themselves. Its unsettling when that happens, its a reality check that I'm actually really crazy! When it happens there is no room for any denial of the fact that most people just don't experience that. |

90% of the time I either have a song running through my head, conversations with myself or past conversations in various situations. At times when I'm a bit calmer, they subside, but they can still be there. I have used a fan at night for years to drown out noises.

I am a bit calmer now. Kinda tired actually. But I feel like this off and on lately. Just back and forth. Luckily it hasn't been as extreme with the sadness as it has been!
