Hi everyone, I may have posted this before but am curious as to whether any of you get irritated by people who post these overly upbeat FB posts. Like "You were not given a bad life, you choose to have a good or bad life" or "everyone comes into the world with the same ingredients--make a beautiful cake!"
ARUGH. We were Not all given the same ingredients. Some of us, like people with bipolar disorder or cerebral palsy, came into the world with serious difficulties. Yes, we can work hard to deal with these things but it is Not as easy as making a cake is for a master baker. I deal w/this by "hiding" those posts so I don't have to see them. But I have one friend, a nice older woman who does hypnotic therapy, who posts 8 or 10 of those kinds of things every day.
Sigh! Thanks for listening

Right! Totally agreed! When I am on Facebook I tend to just scroll past pictures and not look at them because they do get old. However I do like the cynical cats and stuff like that, they make me chuckle lol.

You can set your facebook feed to see less of people who post irritating stuff. Then their posts won't show up on your wall

Hello Dix888, I can not help but exspress a thank you for your post. It seems, you Pretty Much know that we are all different, right? Life for me, is one of a daily struggle, and we are not all given the same oppertunities. Sadly, This is true. I mention this, Because, I to, can relate. My Niece was given a good life, and Blessed with friends. But, She does tend to post everything on Facebook, Like She truely is living "The Good Life", Yet while some of us struggle. I guess My true question is, Does this Create a harm to you? If so, You might want to think of defriending someone, Or, Simply, Like me, Delete them. We need to make it thru each day, and being Bi-Polar, with Up's, & Down's, who really knows how we feel?
I only wish to understand all , and, support them, and there choices. If you would like to talk, or chat I should say, You are free to contact me, Guy W. A.K.A. Cookie_Monster. LOL. Sorry, old nick name.. Can you, If you desire, Please share with me, How being Bi-Polar effects you, and your life? I would love to hear of this. I am trying very Hard to navigate thru this site, But, Doctor John Grohl Is a wonderfulll man, and very helpfull. He gives us all we need, Right here. No need to look farther. Everything is simple here, and the friend's, and information is truely "Priceless" !! I wanna end by hoping you have a fantastic week end, and stay Safe, Happy, & Healthy. Sincerely, Mr Guy W.

Oh god yes. But then I remember that posting inspirational quotes often seems to be a sign of depression, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. But some people are just irritating in general.

Hi Guy, Thank you for your thoughtful answer & encouragement. I will start defriending people who drive me nuts on FB. Mostly people are fun & I am in touch with people I haven't seen in decades (old school pals, etc.) But now & then, there are people who act like we should all be super upbeat every day. Not possible!
Altho' I've been on pretty good meds for over 15 years, I wasn't diag. until age 46. Have read that the sooner you get diag/treated, the more stable you will be (or have a chance to be). I had to quit working due to bipolar & seizures. That makes me feel bad about myself altho' I know work is not what defines us. I enjoy some writing clubs & going for walks & have a good husband. But he has a "normal" brain so there's no way he really gets it
Anyway! Thank you so much for caring!!!

I am not bothered at all by people posting happiness on my facebook .. they are not all "happy" all the time but choose to post upbeat things ,,, maybe it helps them feel better.

I guess if someone is causing you be feel so upset by all means delete them.

That is what means something important to them at that moment. I'd rather see that than people defending gun ownership or posting political bashings. Sure, their post may bother me if I'm not in an upbeat mood, but I have the ability to scroll on by if I wish. I wouldn 't personally unfriend someone for posting positive thoughts, but you certainly have that option.
