Hi All,
So I went back to my pdoc yesterday and he told me after reading my mood chart and the paperwork that I had taken that it was time for me to step up the amount of Sapris I am taking, which is currently 5mg. I explained my concerns regaring the nightmares and insomnia and he replied that he thought the nightmares were caused from something else, and the insomnia should get better. He said his main concern was to stop me from going from depression to mania, and by the looks of my chart that was where I was heading. Got to tell you, I am happy to be heading that way after being depressed for so long!! Anyways, he did agree that we would review in a month if I started taking the 10mg, but he didnt want me to see a T until the 10 mg had kicked in, as he wanted to see if it made the nightmares better or worse. I tried to tell him just how bad and how vivid they were, how they killed an otherwise potentially ok day, but he still thinks its not the meds. Oh and the cramps and the insomnia should get better not worse with the increased dosage. I know I am going to have to try his advice, but can someone who has gone from 5mg to 10mg give me some ideas of how to handle, if same exereience and what other meds they are on to help? Please Hugs ![]()

I'm on 10 mg and it's been OK. I didn't notice much difference between 5mg and 10mg, but when I tried to reduce back down to 5 mg I got depressed so had to go back up. It hasn't caused me any nightmares, in fact I barely dream on it at all.

Just went up to 10 and the nightmares are back. Also the groggy headache firt thing in the morning. Had to go up to 10 cause could feel the 5 starting to loose effect. Hoping 10 can hold me in a happy state.
How long before you were sure the 10 was good....working? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

I switched from seroquel to saphris, but this was almost 2 years ago, so i don't totally remember the details of the switch. From what i remember, i started at 5mg, but got bumped up to 10 mg pretty quickly. At the time my mood was mildly depressed, but i had terrible anxiety that was making it hard to function. The saphris helped a lot with getting the anxiety under control, and it did improve my mood too. But i really don't remember how quickly it worked - i think relatively quickly though. I couldn't handle taking any in the morning, so i take the whole 10 mg at night. In the beginning i felt very drowsy and drugged in the mornings, but that got better over the first few weeks.
I never got any nightmares. I tried to reduce back to 5 mg a couple times over the winter, mostly because i was hoping to come off it. But when i reduce the dose my sleep gets immediately screwed up, and i get depressed pretty quickly after that. Then it takes a few weeks to stabilize again. So i'm trying to accept the fact that i need to take 10mg right now, and probably for a long time. It's been a good med for me. It helps my sleep and anxiety, as well as helping stabilize my mood. I don't know why i constantly want to stop taking it. I guess it's my lack of acceptance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Going up in dosage may help with the insomnia. I started at 10 mg Saphris, and I had to take it at night it was so sedating. I am currently on 20 mg, also taken at night, and have been for probably 3 years. I don't get nightmares.

I feel my emotions are dulled from the Saphris, which I hate, but I think it's not as bad as what you are describing.

We'll give it some time...but I read some stuff I haven't been able to look at for month's and didn't even shed a tear. Guess there are some positives to take from it while it lasts.....
Doesn't feel right though. Something unatural about being this numb.... Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

Yeah, i hate the emotional flattening, but it's better than depression or mixed. I toy with the idea of stopping it so that i can feel more, but i'm scared of what might happen. I don't want to get depressed, and although hypomania is enjoyable, i don't like all the consequences from the reckless stuff i do. So i just stick with the saphris. I'm functioning well, and feeling mostly ok. I hope it works out for you.
