This is a great site and In many ways I'm glad I came across it. It's supportive and validating and a great place to get things out in the open.
However, I have noticed that it can effect my mood. A lot of different issues are brought up and some of them can really stir up negative emotions in me. I was also finding that I was starting to get a little addicted by checking the site many times throughout the day. My T is thinking I need to back off but I'm finding it difficult because there are a lot of positive aspects to being on this site. I get some good information and some of the posts really help me. I need to find a healthy balance and I don't know how to go about it. Anybody have any suggestions?

I would set an alarm to remind me when it is time to get off, otherwise, we get so caught up in what's happening that we forget the time limit.

Set a timer as others said or just take days off like 2-3 days a week you dont come to PC at all... Think of it as any other " trigger" in your life .. Limit your exposure and fill the time with other healthy activities .
Most everyone needs a break from PC at some point or another.

I agree with what the other folks say. Set a limit. Also, maybe by now you know where you are likely to be triggered and can avoid those places. We all need to look after ourselves.
We can also play games, look at fun things like Social Chat, enjoy our friends, etc. ![]() ![]() |
