I have a hard time with balance and my work outs. I dont know if its because I need to work on my core or if its medication. Anyone have advice?

Hello, buzz bee. We do not know what your medication is. Albeit, asking your psychiatrist is the smart thing to do.

I have not had balance problems before starting meds. I used to run and have never fallen in all those years, since recently.

Twice recently I fell straight on my face barely catching myself with my hand. Once I was racing my child and another was when I was doing this physical fitness thing.

I'm afraid to go on a treadmill as I'm thinking I'd end up on my face too.

For me I know it is the meds. I have decided to walk or do a slower jog/run.

I do wonder why this happens. I look forward to what others have to say. Thanks for starting this thread.
Hugs from:

I had spatial / balance issues while medicated.

I know I never had that issue before as I used to dance and never once fell off the stage or bumped into another dancer.

Took a while to clear up after stopping meds, but for me it definitly was med related. And no, I wasn't overmedicated.

Idk what the remedy would be though, maybe your pdoc would know how to fix it without messing with your meds.

My balance is definitely worse on meds. I have trouble in balance poses in yoga, and sometimes when i ride my bike i feel like i'm going to crash. This is especially bad if i have to ride through a narrow passage way, i have to slow down and it's scary. So i barely ride anymore, and i invested in a really good helmet. I never used to be this way. When i was on seroquel i had episodes of vertigo and actually crashed my bike a couple times. It's better now, but i still feel impaired. I hate this side effect because i like to be active. The only thing i can really seem to do without fear is go running, i don't know which of my meds is causing this for sure, but i tend to blame saphris because it's the most sedating and i think the strongest med i'm on. But it could be one of the others, or likely the combo. I always want to blame saphrus because i want off my AP.

My balance was horrible before my meds were changed. Meds are fun that way .

I find that Zyprexa does that to me.

Yeah, meds have affected my balance. That and progressive lenses.

On the other hand, I do yoga, and when I am regular with my practice, I can still manage many of the positions that involve balance. As long as I am regular! Whis is to say, not at the moment.

You would think after being on the medications we were be used to it and it would not be a problem.

I am working on my core and I hope that will help.
