I don't know what to do anymore. I am in misery right now. I've been on Latuda now for 4 weeks. I decided today I can't take the side effects anymore, so I am not going to take it anymore. I am dealing with the worst restlessness and anxiety ever which leads me into a panic attack and I just want to just jump out of my skin. My muscles in my legs tighten up which is so bad that I want to scream. Sometimes they even start shaking. We have tried several medicines to counteract the this reaction, which I believe is akathisia. Yesterday I saw my doctor again and he put me back on Cogentin, Xanax, and started Doxepin, and lowered my dose of Latuda from 80 to 40 mg which I take in the morning now instead of at night. My doctor so badly wants me on Latuda. I started this regimen last night. Today I took 40 mg of Latuda and like always with an hour and a half the symptoms began so I kept popping Xanax until it was tolerable. This is so bad that I am on med leave for a month. I made the decision today after what happened to not take it anymore and call my doctor on Monday, so that means no Latuda for Saturday or Sunday. I just can't do it. I hope nothing happens that I am stopping cold turkey. Has anyone experienced this before or any other bad reactions to Latuda? Sorry for the long rant I just need support from others that understand, even though my husband is the best at dealing with me.

I stopped Latuda a week after my shrink put me on it. I was constantly agitated and my leg kept shaking. Never again.

I think shrinks get kickbacks. They're too eager to try the latest drug on us.
Thanks for this!

I had no side effects from the latuda but I'm only on 20mg. have been on the same dose for 2 1/2 months. But I'm bipolar II with mixed which is what it is supposed to be best at treating.

Call your pharmacist and ask them if you have to taper off or if you can just stop today ..

I tried Latuda about 2 years ago took it about a month didnt like the side effects and just quit cold turkey I didnt have any problems but everyone is different.

Stay safe

Latuda made me extremely anxious and irritable. I was so frustrated with everyone and every thing while I was on it. I don't remember if I tapered. I was up to 40mg. My doc pulled me off when I told him how bad it was.

Latuda worked great for about 3 weeks, and then just as you described I wanted to climb out of my skin. I stopped it immediately, it was so severe. Your doctor can't force drugs on you, Latuda is relatively new so you always have to wonder when a doc is really pushing something on you.

I did not do well with Latuda. It totally made me a wreck! I started spiraling out of control and had to be taken off of it very quickly. I would also try checking on how best to taper off the dose.

Also, don't let your psych keep you on meds that you don't like! If it doesn't work for you then let him know. If he insists on keeping you on them, then I would think about what is keeping him from finding you something that works. Make sure you advocate for yourself.

So far it seems to be a good thing for me, aside from the fact that I cannot tolerate the heat. I get so nauseous when it's hot. And I'm in a part of CA tht gets very hot. It's supposed to reach 104 today and I already feel like I can't handle the heat.
