I'm trying to be very aware of my moods since I am slowly increasing my zoloft (I just started 75 this week) and am not on a mood stabilizer or anything else (my psych and I are trying to determine if I really am bp II or just have atypical depression/anxiety). I'm preparing to move in August so I'd like to be in a good place before then / make any necessary adjustments.
I was pretty depressed for 1-2 weeks and feel I've come out of it over the past few days. Maybe this is the zoloft starting to take effect, but I also worry that it could be the beginning of hypomania...or I could be overreacting...I can't tell anymore! Any thoughts? As you can see, I recognize the ambiguity of all these 'symptoms'... - been staying up later and later BUT my body/eyes are still tired. Just listened to music and daydreamed until 3 AM last night and woke up at 6 - lots of cleaning/chores - significant increase in my desire to shop/change my hair color (again) - I have lots of loaded baskets online BUT haven't actually purchased anything (yet) - decreased appetite BUT still feel the physical pangs of hunger - Increased sociability/desire to talk to people BUT haven't actually made any tangible plans (though I have been communicating with people a lot more via email, text, phone etc.) -Increased sexual desire BUT not doing anything reckless - Increased feelings of creativity and thought-flow, but inability to concentrate or actually get anything done |

Sounds hypo to me. Just be watchful that you dont go full on manic ... AD's can cause you to become Manic ...which is what i think your doctor is doing .. Fling you on a AD and see what happens.
Do you have someone that can keep and eye on you to make sure you dont get into a full on Manic episode.. Take care

I understand just what you mean about the uncertainty. I find that hyper-vigilance can be a tricky line to walk but is sometimes necessary. Especially during med changes.
Do you keep a calendar to track sleep cycles/moods/etc? (I use an app on my phone, it's super handy) It feels so good to come out of the darkness that the calendar helps keep things in perspective and is a good reference for the doc. The main part that jumps out to me is the 3 hours of sleep. We are all certainly different, I just find that if I start sleeping less than 6 hours at a time then I am moving up (hypo or full on - it's my first clue) but I am normally okay if the lack of sleep is temporary. P.S. - This is my first post on the bipolar forums, hope I am doing this right! I am welcome to all suggestions ![]() |

Those sound like hypomanic symptoms to me. I was in a similar state a few months ago and it got progressively worse (less sleep) as each day went on. I would definitely call the doctor to tell them about these symptoms so they could confirm.
