I am an expert at citalopram....

this substance made me invulnerable to feeling any pain...

such is it's popularity!...and such is it's ridiculousness...

and such is the emotional fallout from such a thing!

it makes an emotional person question this crazy possibility to feel nothing!

...and try the terrible anxiety and the foolish failure to understand!...?

....why is my anxiety so high...and why have I needed to compensate?

so many drugs are wrong for bipolar...and so many are not right!...

it depends on how far you can go alone to cope!

how far is not really that far...

it's all inside and painfull much less than outside!
Thanks for this!

I could be wrong but I think citalopram is an antidepressant and will through you into a manic episode. The tricky part is treating the depression (crash) afterward.

I've been taking it for panic attacks for about 9 weeks. But it feels like it's actually causing more panic attacks and anxiety, if that's possible. I'm going tomorrow to ask the doctor about stopping it.

Stay in touch with your doc, don't worry too much. Are you on a mood stabilizer or anything else, while you come off citalopram? I would hope so.

I've tried coming off citalopram twice, and I was a train wreck both times. The problem was I was on too high a dose (even 10 mg was too much), but none at all turned me into a hot, weepy, irritable mess. Naturally, my pdoc only tried taking me off when I was manic, but this last time I crashed into a depression right on the heels of a manic episode. I was determined not to go back on the Celexa because I didn't want to go through withdrawal again, but I caved when he offered to try me on a tiny dose to keep the depression away without contributing to mania.

So now I'm on 5 mg, which I kind of think isn't quite enough, but I don't want to ask for more because I'm in reasonably decent shape now, and I don't want to take higher doses of my antipsychotics to balance out the Celexa. If it ain't broke---or if it's only slightly cracked---why fix it?
