3 different psychologist have told me that I am "very" intelligent on initial meetings.

What does that mean?

I am no Einstein, I'm no beethoven, I'm no Neil deGrasse Tyson or whatever.

They also ask me if I write? No, I have a below average understanding of the english language(grammer, pronouns and ****).

People around me say I am very intelligent...

WHAT HAVE I DONE TO BE CONSIDER 'VERY" INTELLIGENT?

I feel like these psychologist and people I meet are playing a joke on me.

I feel the same way...I've had different therapists and psychologists (as we all have, I'm sure...) and they've said something along the lines of, "I can tell you're very intelligent, so that's not the problem". I feel like they are just stroking me at this point. The same ones also asked if I wrote, to which I responded yes. One of these guys had black eyes...can't trust him. (haha!) Later one asked if I had a habit of studying math and I laughed in his face.

I don't know,I I've always thought it's something they just say to make the patient feel good. Why they do it, I don't know...to break the ice?

I am the same.

Whatever nice stuff they say I think they have to say it and it's their job to say It...

Either I have very low self esteem.
Or they are very disingenuous

It seems many people with bipolar disorder have extraordinary creativity and/or intellect. For example, I was top of my art class since kindergarten, and tied #1 highest in the SAT scores in a high school class of several hundred. (Too bad I flunked out of college due to psychosis... But that is another story)

Anyway, because of this fact, I think many shrinks automatically assume bipolar people are mentally gifted as well as mentally cursed. This is where it comes from.

I have no idea why they would tell you that you're intelligent. I mean, what does this have to do with therapy? Maybe you should ask them?

btw, I'm a big supporter of writing. If you are journaling for yourself, you don't have to worry about grammar and **** -- you just have to write. It can be a great therapy tool. And, who knows? You could be a great writer. You sure as heck have a story to tell. Don't let the stuff they tried to teach you in school get in the way of good writing.

*cough* steps off of soapbox
