Kind of freaked out. I have an Ok Cupid profile, and a guy managed to track through the images I have there to the image I have here of me as a shadow, and he messaged me a list of my meds. I didn't realize it was possible to track a person like this. I just wanted to let you folks know in case anyone is worried about being tracked. I'm concerned about my anonymity, so not sure what to do at this point. I don't want to delete my profile on either site, and I'm not even sure that would actually remove it from where it can be tracked online. Yikes.

People can take an image, throw it into Google and see where else that picture appears on the net. So, if you're using the same avatar across multiple sites then any weirdo who wants to look up your specific online activities will be able to connect the different profiles by common image files. If you're posting sensitive information on a different account, then it's a good idea not to use any identifiable pictures that you also have uploaded elsewhere.

Most people do this to satisfy their own curiosities about someone they perhaps have a crush on or even if they want to find a way to contact a person, but this guy definitely sounds like he was just trying to intimidate you. I'd change your pictures from here and report that creepy dude on OkCupid.

Yes! It's one thing for someone to try to connect the dots simply from the energy of being smitten, and QUITE another to put information garnered in your face like that. I sense a controller. At any rate, it's unacceptable and intimidation for sure.

I changed my profile pic and avatar here, so there are no pictures in common with both sites. It really sucks to have to do that because I liked my old picture more, but I don't want to be tracked. People can be so creepy!

Maybe you should change your screen name, too. He already knows what it is based on his previous stalking.

be careful online. Act like a spy, cover all your tracks, and step lightly. Leave no fingerprints, change your passwords often, etc.

Other than that, don't worry. So some creep found your identity here on psychcentral. It is not the end of the world.
You could always message an administrator, have your screenname changed, and edit your profile to be undetectab;e, and start over.
You could even start a whole new account here, if you want to go that far.

I think i'll keep my screen name. I blocked him on okc, so if he wants to creep my posts here he can go ahead. I don't think my posts are all that interesting, so i can't imagine he will creep for long. I think i'm fine, it was just a little unsettling.

I just deleted a thread I posted because I thought I was being paranoid. It was about people, even your descendants being able to see everything you post on here and think you are crazy...because they can track you through email. Now I don't feel so paranoid!!! I am so sorry that happened to you, how scary!
