Is it normal for anxiety to go UP on Geodon? I thought it was supposed to help control anxiety? Doctor raised me from 80mg to 120mg Tuesday, and the anxiety just keeps getting worse. Or is this the hypomania getting worse? This is such crap timing too, I have a show next weekend! I don't want to use the Ativan as I've used it 2 of the last 3 nights, and I can't function during the day on it. I seriously need a switch to BuSpar or something I can actually take as needed. I just want to pace or go run or something right now, and it's like 1am.

Here's a link to the side effects of Geodon. http://www.drugs.com/sfx/geodon-side-effects.html

From what I read its suppose to help control mania in bipolar, but the side effects are anxiety like symptoms.

I would contact your doctor and let him/her know how you've been reacting to it. You may need another med to counteract the anxiety or switch to something else.

Hope this helps!

I'm on 80 mg of Geodon. I tried to go off of it altogether, but I became incredibly sleepy and drugged. Therefore, your experience makes sense to me. It must "hype you up" somehow. I'm back on it and feel stable.
Also, as I recall it was a pretty tough drug at the start. Maybe you are just having a adjustment time.
I sure hope you feel better soon.

Anxiety is a bit better, but it's once again 3am and I can't sleep cause my brain won't shut up. I'm trying to limit the Ativan to every other night, because I'm paranoid my pdoc will be mad at me if I show up with an empty bottle because I needed it all. He only gave me 14 tablets for two weeks. But I can't take it during the day because it knocks me out. And it doesn't help I've got a show opening this coming weekend so I'm anxious about that too. Probably going to call in the morning and see if I can get BuSpar or something I can actually take as needed instead of the Ativan, and surrender my remaining Ativan at my next appointment. This not being able to take it when I really need it sucks.
