Sometimes I feel my life is out of control. I have been depressed for several days now. I have not taken a shower for a few days. I have been dealing with a lazy caregiver for my mother who does not take direction well. I am worried about my daughter's first year in high school. She usually does not do her homework. Now this happens.

How can I cope with this? Baby steps?

Is your mother dealing with dementia or Alzheimer's?

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this! I think baby steps are a great idea! Also, make sure you try to practice good self care even though it's probably really hard right now. You have to be in good condition yourself in order to be able to take care of others.

I have some idea of how hard this is, as my grandma who took good care of me when I was growing up had dementia, and in the later stages when I would visit, she thought I was an intruder and tried to attack me. Sometimes she would recognize me, but that was rare. Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia are devastating illnesses.

I don't really have any words of wisdom, but I just wanted to let you know that I read your message and was sending good wishes your way.

Best,
Hope

Is it at the time she needs to be in assistant living? Can you go to day treatment? Most schools have a site that parents can sign in and see what is due, when it's due, if your child turned it in, and send emails to teachers.

Now I absent min deadly left the door open. My cat appears to be gone. I must get my crap together before I make any more mistakes. My mother has wondered in the past. That door needs to remain locked!
