I'm in outpatient program at a hospital and today the therapist held me after class to talk about (i thought she called it) mdr therapy? She showed me somewhat how it works... I hold these 2 vibration things. they go off when she wants them to..... and talk through things.. something like that.... anyone familiar with the correct terminology? Anyone done this form before?

Can you get clarification from your therapist? I'm not sure what you're looking for. Is it EMDR?

EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

I can tomorrow just seeing if someone knew now... it deals with your hands though. Not eyes.. vibrations with the things you hold in your hands. ...

I wonder if it is kinda the same thing I done just without the vibration thing. Instead the therapist rhythmically patted my knees and talked about stuff. Kinda helped get deep inside to the root of things. If it is the same, it worked wonders for me. I have let go of sooo much crap that was holding me down. I do think it was called emdr, but it has been years since I have been to the therapist. Either way I would give it a try, some of the weirdest things work . . . lol

Similar idea I do believe.... yah that's my concern... I'm so closed minded about strange things working.... I wish I could just say I'll be open minded... I mean I will try to be.. but this other voice.. guy whatever you want to call it says yeah right... maybe it will still work even with my hard somewhat ignorant head... :/

vjdragonfly, I think you're talking about EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I tried it once. I cried like a baby, failed an acting exam after, never did another session.
