Hi all. Two weeks ago I noticed that I was going to run out of Lamictal pretty quickly, which surprised me because I'm not going to see my doctor until October 14th and he usually gives me enough to last until then. I ordered a refill before I ran out, but it's been a week and it still hasn't gotten here.

It's now day three since I've been off my meds. I had one minor episode. I feel disconnected, like someone else is controlling me. However, I am constantly dizzy and nauseous. I can barely get out of bed. I also feel tired after almost 13 hours of sleep and could easily go for more. I feel really warm all the time and can't focus very well.

Is there anything I can do to lessen the effects? I can't contact my doctor. USPS is really slow and hopefully the pills will be here Monday. And, when I do get my pills back, should I immediately start at 100mg again or do I need to work up to it all over again?

Thanks.

Its pretty standard for most pdoc's to say if your miss 3 days of Lamictal you have to restart the whole process of titrating back up from 25mg to lessen the chance of SJS (rash).
Calling your Pharmacist would also be helpful they may be able to offer you some advice

Im sorry your going through all this

If you develop a rash seek medical help immediately. Go to the ER. A possible side effect of Lamictal is something called Steven Johnson Syndrome. It is very rare, but it can be fatal. Fever is one of the symptoms of it.

You can google the half life of lamictal, but basically it stays in your system for about a week, depending on your weight and metabolism.

I've also heard if you are off of it for three days, you have to start back at 25 mg to avoid the rash. Check with your doctor for advice.

I went off Lamictal for 3-4 days. I titrated up really fast. Up to 150mg in one week. (50/100/150 every few days) That is considered way too fast, but I am not allergic to lamictal and I had no problems at all.
