It's ok :-) yr in a tough spot. I can understand you needing some sound advice. I think working nights with bp is not good at all. If we didn't have bp it would be a totally different story. We need our nighttime sleep. You've got this. Go for the other position! After all money isn't worth it if yr mentally miserable. Hugs to you my friend.

Working nights does sound like it may not be the healthiest choice...I understood what you meant about changing positions rather than jobs (sorry my wording wasn't very clear) - I think one of the reasons it is hard to give you pros and cons (beyond saying that working days is probably better for the BP) is that we're not exactly aware of all the circumstances of either position. That being said, some of the things I would consider are how well you feel you would get along with your coworkers in either position (I'm not sure I understood correctly, but switching wouldn't mean you would have to go back to the "bullying" you had to deal with earlier, I hope) - I know you said you feel your current coworkers are lazy and slow so then switching may work out better for you there....One of the cons I can think of is if you have to learn new skills in your new position there may be a period of adjustment/additional stress on you. If you're already fully trained etc. this may not be a problem either.

I wish you luck with whatever you decide!

Really, I think it basically comes down to your gut feelings and if you see a better and brighter future in another area there. That you may actually like. You probably somewhat know the ins and outs of the different departments and how they flow. The people and personalities from each.
I always say, no matter what. Make sure that you have a backup plan if it doesn't work. So, you're covered!
I have had to make decisions like this. Where, I was basically on the fence. Stressing hard, go for what you think will be the best for you, in the long run!

Hiya loophole,

It sounds like you've answered your own question. Days would be best for your mental health, and although the new department/job is a coin toss it sounds like it couldn't be any worse than the one you're in now. Maybe the new department would offer some overtime too? In any case good luck. I really admire you raising 3 kids and holding down a full-time job with bipolar.

all the best,
Randy

This whole thread has made me think about my current job and whether the hours and stress are taking a toll on my moods. So I wanted to thank Loophole for raising these issues. I had sort of an "aha" moment as a result.

Thanks Loophole! Hope you got some good ideas, too.
