Hi jesusplay, haven't you been inpatient before? I recall you posting about your experience being in a hospital sometime before, unless I'm mistaken

When the doctor, your social worker, and others overseeing you feel that you are "ready to leave." i suppose that means when they feel your medication is at a good level and you no longer have the feelings of suicide. I've been twice. If you have any more questions, let me know.

Varies depending on where you are, average is five to seven days. I've been in anywhere from five days to two weeks.

I've checked myself in about 15x, usually for suicidal thinking, and I'm so glad I did. It's far better than wrestling with those thoughts 24 hrs. a day. My typical stay was 3 weeks. I'd go home when I was no longer suicidal, or for the last 3x when I'm no longer manic or hallucinating. I knew when I was ready. If you are a danger to others, yet you want to go home, then they will not let you.

The length of stay also depends on the hospital. I know people who stayed at 1 particular hospital (the state hospital) for 6 months, but they were very positive about their experience. Others were not positive at all.

I hope you have a good hospital nearby and that you stay as long as you need help. In my opinion state hospitals are not good.

Every place if different but its a standard 72 hour hold.. Once your considered stable you will be released with a Pdoc and T appt set up. You can also be set up with a PHP program which I hear are a wonderful help.

If you feel unsafe go to the ER

I was in twice, and kept for about 7-9 days each. I was in the psych wards of local public hospitals and it was OK, although jarring to be around people so much. They didn't set me up with a doctor the 2nd time, they left it to me so it didn't get done.

I can only guess it depends on the hospital, doctor, and I wonder about your insurance, if one has any. Don't have any idea, but maybe longer, or as long as the insurance keeps paying.

If you have insurance, it depends on when your doc says you are ready. They really pressure the doc to get you out of there.

Are you talking regular medical hospital or psych hospital? My last two visits to regular hospital they told me the standard was 72 hours although they let mW go after two days both times. They are considering putting me in a state hospital which could be anywhere from 2 weeks to six months. But that's because I'm extremely sick and my thoughts just aren't going away.

Depends on place, insurance, you, how you present. Can go in voluntary. And be there short time. 302. Must be there few days, sign out typically takes 72 hours. Can be 303 and be there month or more. Better to be voluntary though.

I was in a hospital for one month. That is when my insurance went out.
