I was just wondering where some of you live that you have access to inpatient. I live in a big midwest USA city and currently there is ONE inpatient hospital that I know of and it has less then 30 beds. When I was younger there were more places but they have shut down.
I don't need inpatient, but last night as I was curled up and broken down on my bathroom floor I thought how there is no where to even go, and even if there was, I couldn't pay for a stay. As I said, I don't need inpatient, but these sporatic hour long breakdowns are scary and awful.

Are there no hospitals with a psych unit? Sometimes insurance will cover for you to go to a hospital a distance away.

I live in New Jersey. There are many inpatient options. I myself have been to six different facilities. There are more. But nj is more densely populated than the Midwest is. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I'm lucky to have access to such care and options to where I go. I can usually choose which hospital I want to go to when I have a breakdown which is nice because I really like the one hospital as they allow more freedoms than most.
I'm sorry you don't have access to such care. About paying for it, is there a such thing as charity care where you live?
