That is encouraging that your ECT worked so well!

Being tagged with a boat full of "lables" is usually helpful in winning your case, As long as you have enough work credits its SSDI, if not it's SSI. Not sure about your work history.

Go to SSA.Gov . It explains the amount of credits you need.

If your using an attorney and you don't have enough credits they will normally advise you to apply for SSI.

Attorneys don't like to take cases unless they think they will win thus they get paid only if you are given SSDI.

You need 40 quarters = 10 years of work, not necessarily continuous.

I was wrong, 40 credits total is not enough - apparently, you also need some recent credits. Did you look up the requirements?

Schizoaffective Disorder Bipolar Type people have psychotic symptoms outside of manic episodes. Meaning you could be having hallucinations, paranoia, and delusions, with no manic symptoms. That's what I have. With regular bipolar if you have psychotic symptoms they only appear in a depressed episode or manic episode from what I understand.

Get a lawyer asap, although many won't take your case until you've been denied. This is so that your case is far enough along for them to get paid out of your back pay. They get 25% up to a max of $6000, plus expenses. When you first submit make sure your documentation is complete, SSA will not do this for you. Bipolar definitely qualifies, but they are most concerned with how you have been doing in the past 12 months, and that your condition will not improve. You have to show that there is no type of job anywhere that you can do full time, 40 hours a week. The ability to work part time and make up to about $1000 a month will not disqualify you from receiving benefits. You should choose a lawyer who only does disability cases. They don't have to be local since it is a Federal case. Having an attorney doubles your chances for approval at the hearing level.
Thanks for this!

When you apply for SSDI they will automatically ask you if you want to apply for SSI. SSDI is based on work history and SSI is based on low income and assets. If a paid lawyer won't take your case you might contact the free legal aid service in your area or an advocacy organization that might help you put things together.

Don't count on them doing anything for you, I made that mistake my first go round. You make sure your records get to them, don't expect giving them a name and address will be enough.

Okay. Just make small talk with people and turn the conversation around by being the one asking the questions. As far as your world ending I'm not sure I understand the question.
