I thought I'd start this thread to counteract the gloom and doom in my head. One of the funniest memories I have is one Christmas I went shopping in town and decided on a whim that I needed to get better Christmas decorations. I went to the biggest home crafts store in town and asked (no, ORDERED) the assistant to climb a ladder to the ceiling and take down this ginormaous gold foil hanging decoration. It was the only one in the shop, and I'm not kidding when I say it was huge - that thing must have been three meters across! I had to walk home with it because I couldn't get it on a train or in a taxi, and it cost a fortune, but I thought nothing of that, being in a typical manic spending frenzy. As soon as I got it home I thought, "What the f*** have I done!" It was so huge that I couldn't even open it out fully in our living room, much less hang it up. I ended up crushing it and folding it down as small as it would go and stuffing it into the back of a cupboard so no one I lived with would see it and ask why I'd bought it and how much money I'd spent on useless crap this time. It stayed there for years till I finally threw it out.

It was a hot July day and I was homeless and broke but then I made $100 and what did I buy? Not food, not a place to spend the night. Snowshoes. In July. I had nowhere to store them and had to schlepp these big cumbersome things around with me for days, the crazy homeless person with the snowshoes in summer. After a few days I got tired of keeping track of them and returned them and used the money to better advantage.

I went shopping at the mall and spent 500 bucks when I was suppose to use the money for other things...couldn't find my car in the parking lot and I needed security to help me find it! It is funny now that I look back but at the time I was bawling! Oh the things we do when manic...

It was New Years one year and I just had to replace our TV. I went to Best Buy and bought the first TV that caught my attention... it was a $5000 TV. I wasn't going to leave the store without it and the gf nearly freaked when she saw the price tag. I refused to take it back and now our $5000 TV is sitting in our living room. It's a damn good TV though.

Definitely praying with the fervor and loudness of a charismatic preacher to sometimes random people. Running through my neighborhood, singing praise music as loudly as I could, thinking I could save people by doing this. Drinking gallons of water a day believing it would keep the Holy Spirit from leaving me. I thought I was God's special instrument so to speak but now I just find parts of it laughable. Ha!

I haven't been truly manic, but I have been hypomanic. It's been a long time, but I remember having a philosophical conversation about how everything is art whether it is intended to be or not. I was pointing out everything I saw on the street. "Like this parking meter that has been smashed with a baseball bat. This is art. The person who made the meter was an artist and the one with the baseball bat was a free thinker who thought that the parking meter should have a shape unlike other parking meters so he sculpted it into what it is now...etc." Chances are it was just someone who came along and wanted to break stuff.

Wow lol. U can get like an incredible 60" 1080p for like less than 2g's haha

My spending frenzy due to my mania was earlier this month. Will be paying the credit card bill for a while....

Both my self and my husband are BP. The day we met neither of us had slept for days
He was jumping over the couches in the lounge. We started to stack the furniture in the lounge and stealing any unused furniture in the dorm,mostly other lounge furniture from other lounges to make the course bigger and bigger. After enough injuries we decided we were hungry and left, completely forgetting we had stacked beds, couches, tables, and desks on top of each other. I can only imagine the WTF look on the people's faces that found it. It was all put back by the time we got back. We even forgot about it until I later got in trouble for "rearranging furniture in the dorm "

Went to the airport to try and fly to Mexico in the middle of the night. I did not have a passport so they wouldn't sell me the ticket. Instead of going home I got in a wheel chair and rolled around the airport for awhile. Then I just started riding the tram around the airport talking to whomever got on and sat close by. When I finally had enough I realized I had no clue where my car was. Husband had to come pick me up and drive through parking garages to find it. I laugh when I think what people must have thought. I don't even know what the hell I said to people.

Jetting around the world......buying really weird festival outfits and ending up wearing them for going out to the playground with my kids.....lol.....at least they love it :-)

Hmm, it's definitely when I was in the psych ward. I was doing lapse around the world loudly singing Hot n' Cold by Katy Perry and dancing and skipping about. Beforehand I had been asked to sing by one of the staff people because she heard me in my room, but I was too shy. Not when I switched and became manic though. Oh boy I was a singing fool lol. And all I remember thinking was, "Are you not entertained?!" Hahaha it was ridiculous.

Another time I invited everyone on the top deck of a double-decker bus to come home with me and watch videos. I invited them as a group at the top of my voice from where I was standing on the front seat. Happily, no one took me up on it. I have been the proverbial Nutter on the Bus. LOL

I went to pick up my prescription at the mall and was told i would have to wait 15 minutes so i went across the hall and spent $1500 on jewelry when my style is uber casual. I spent $100 for each minute i had to wait. Later i lost one of the diamond earrings in an ambulance.

Drove an hour to buy a pot belly pig. Didn't think threw the whole having to lift this pig in and out of the house to do it's business. Didn't think to check the animal by laws in my town either. Happy to report she is living as a pet on a farm now.

I climbed the side of my house with a hose and a can of raid in nothing but gym shorts bc I was trying to prevent bugs from getting into my window. That was when my family thought I may have a problem lol

Hypomanic, saw land for sell in Bella Coola B.C. Rain forest. Over 100 acres on the river there which is glacier fed and in summer can't cross due to glacier melt. Also when it rains over few inches causing giant whole trees to float down the river for days. Also cabin on wrong side, north side, where nothing else has been built. The south side has the Hwy 20, and where all the people and stores are. It's for sale but you would have to be trough to get in and out, when possible. I did it first time (out only) by use of my Old Town 17' canoe. Indians got me there by securing my canoe to there float boat. All boats (Indians) are larger home made boats & paddles are too. Not against the law, but the Indians do not like people, outsiders, using a boat with any motor.2nd time boat with 20 hp motor but the Indians untied it to let it float down river. My two Indian friends (built my cabin) got my boat & motor back where I pulled it out as much as possible. Then 3rd and last time over three years ago, I used my 14' jon boat with 5 hp motor, and made a ramp myself so I could it all up on the 5 ft steep bank. Spent 28 days there alone. I do not plan to ever go back, not talk to anyone there, and have no idea if cabin is still there, or just parts of it. It's too dangerous for me for many reasons.

Coming back, and I am not lying, I drove the whole (3,000 miles) without stopping for any thing but gasoline and fast food. That was 56.5 hours with no sleep what so ever. I wanted so very badly to get back to my wife. She was not happy with my Canadian dream. I called her in Oregon and that even made me more manic. She was OK on the phone but she had some good reasons to judge my mental condition.

The funniest thing I've ever done a few times is try to have a party. I'm bad enough with just one guest. I always end up talking my head off, then I regret it.

went to Kosovo and then wrote thesis about it.......... with which I struggled a lot.

But oh, the landscapes are so breathtaking. But the modern architecture is bit on the ugly side. Peacekeepers are hot (I remember walking into some railing when I was checking a carfull of KFORs. Bruised my leg badly....). Bough pair of silver earings, handmade....... I consider them my lucky earings. Had a ghosts in my hostel. Spend lot of time people watching and wondering whom of them is a former UCK fighter. That guy from kebab place with scar on his face? (I hope it's not from teasing a cat as a child or drunked accident). That illegal taxi driver who drove as if he was suicidal? The professor who owned the guest house and when I asked for typical Kosovar food, he sent me to a burger place.... and claimed there is two direction in Pristhinë... up and down... The silver jewelry makers who let me try working with silver and said I am good at it? Still, just hearing the name of the country causes me strange pain. Was intense.
