Hello all.

So, I have a question. Right now I'm in the hospital but likely being released today. I'm off work until Jan 10th or there abouts. I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if I should be honest wtih them and tell them i'm off work (if they ask?). I'm assuming they will make some type of comment like "oh, did we get you away from work?" and then I'll have to lie and say yes, I left early or no, I'm on leave as I have Bipolar Disorder. Ugh. What to do!!!

To be honest, I tend to give out to much information - especially when I am having anxiety.

My advice is, look calm in your face while letting your anxiety out through tensing a leg muscle - something that can't be noticed.

Do what you are doing, thinking ahead of time what is a good answer.

Yes, I am taking a break from work right now - because I think this job is worth taking the time for.
Well, no, I am not working - couldn't be here if I was, haha.
I am off work until the 10th. However, if I get this job I may not be going back.
I begin my other job on Jan. 10th. I have worked there previously, and will be working at both jobs simultaneously - believe me. I can handle it.

Try to remember to focus on what they are saying. Keeping your mind on task. Try to answer fully, but not necessarily personally. They want to hire work you, not at home you. Distinguish between the two during answering.

Hope this gives you some food for thought. Best of luck!

You just need to determine what you're comfortable sharing. The interview is about you having the opportunity to see if this is a company you want to work for, and for the company to see if you would do well. Remember- you can always change your mind if you want a new job.

Remember that if they ask you about getting off work- it's more of a conversation filler than an actual interview question. They'll most likely ask as they lead you to the interview room or greet you when you arrive.

You don't have to provide a direct answer- you can just say, "It was no problem at all- I'm just happy to have the opportunity to interview with you." That's a truthful response and it doesn't put you in a situation where you're lying.

Good luck!

ma'am

i would use i been off work for a family matter that need to be resolved ......everything is ok and settled now and i am looking to go back to a permit job

if they press u say a family member was sick and u need to take some time to take care of them ....they are better now and the doctors have everything under control

u are telling the truth just leaving out the family member is u

my mother taught me that .......u are not lying but u are not giving out details .......if they press u about it just say sir/ma'am i do not feel comfortable talking about it ..it is not my place to put other ppl info out in the world

that makes u look good like u keep mouth shut about things it can help u get hired
Thanks for this!

Did we get you away from work.

No, actually I am on leave right now, and I am so glad to be able

Whatever you do, don't disclose that you have bipolar disorder. It is a myth that a company can't refuse to hire mentally ill people.....they do it everyday. They can't use a disability as a reason, but they can find a million and one other ways not to hire you.

I like the advice Justugh gave you. The reason you are off work is none of the interviewer's business. Be vague.....they don't need to know that the person you've been taking care of is you.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your interview. I hope you get the job!
