I like Seroquel because it helps me sleep but it also gives me nightmares. I get up at night just to get away from the nightmares and take a break, so i am not sure i am any further ahead in the sleep department. It protects against mania, so i want to keep up with it, but i'm not completely happy with it.

Anyone else get the Seroquel nightmares?

I totally had wacky nightmares on seroquel, but after some time they passed. Its worth sticking to. Good luck!

I love the nightmares, I usually drink some water or juice then go right back to bed.

That's interesting. This is my second time on Seroquel and now that I'm thinking about it I'm having horrible nightmares. I'm actually waking up and seeing things. Just last night I started screaming saying there is a toad in the bed. I jumped out of the bed screaming and my husband had to show me there wasn't a toad in the bed. I have a ceiling fan above my bed and I constantly wake up thinking a giant hand is coming down to grab me. Crazy right? I don't remember having this when I was on Seroquel the first time? Luckily this doesn't happen every night, well not that I remember anyway.

Hi apfei.
I've been taking Seroquel for about a week now. I've been having weird, vivid, scary dreams. However, I've always had trouble with these kind of dreams so I don't know if it's the Seroquel or not. I hope the nightmares go away for you!

Seroquel didn't give me nightmares, but Effexor had that effect on me. I know what you mean...the drug works, but the nightmares suck. With Seroquel, there really aren't any other drugs that work as well. If you can stick with it and see if the nightmares go away...please do. The alternative drug options are not any where near as good. For me, Effexor is an antidepressant and those are a dime a dozen. I tried another one and it worked just as fine with no funky dreaming.

I am on seroquel and I too have crazy dreams. Sometimes they affect the way I feel in the morning but usually I'm grateful it means I slept which is way more important. Best of luck

last night I had a dream, but I was behind the 4th wall. This lady let a blue colored african lady hold her baby while she ran some errands in the jungle/alien desert. The blue african lady notices the baby crying and decides to change her diaper. THe blue african lady notices the baby girl still has her "special lady parts attached", says "oh you won't be needing this" and cuts it off with weird looking blade. I'm yelling in horror, WTF. then I wake up, grab a wine glass, pour me some sunny D and go back to sleep.

last night.

i got of lithium after too many side effects and being on it for 35+ yrs. never helped with my insomnia and racing thoughts. i love taking 1/2 seroquel knowing i will not ever have racing thoughts and my sleep is deep and yes, the dreams are vivid, ongoing it seems even when i get back into bed after peeing, and still with me when i wake up…and even tho i'm groggy for about 30 min. every morning, it helps slow down my mania and i'm not on any other mood stabilizer now.

I've been on Seroquel for about 4 weeks now and I am actually dreaming (no nightmares) for the first time in about 7 years. I was on citalopram/trazodone for those 7 years and nothing! I'm hoping the seroquel has unlocked a long-hidden creative side of my persona that I can use to make my fortunes ... or maybe i'll just have dreams. Either way its kinda exciting.

I was on Seroquel for years. I had really vivid dreams on it. But, it was worth it to me at the time.

At a higher dose I had nightmares. Dosage lowered and no more. If your taking it for sleep only you shouldnt need more then 100 if not 50mg
