I'm brand new. 34 years old. Got diagnosed as bipolar 2 years ago. I hate it, it makes me feel like I'm crazy and different. More different than I already was because I'm also obese. I'm suffering right now from the depression part I think. I was doing so well two months ago and I don't know what happened. It was gradual though. I'm having trouble focusing. While I was doing well I made the decision to go back to school and I'm in the 2nd week of my first class and I want to do well and keep going. I also want to stop using my fmla at work. I can't afford to miss work. I don't know what to do. I see my therapist every week and my psychiatrist less than that.

Most people see there psychiatrist every 2 month-ish. My old one I saw monthly and my new one is every 6 or so weeks. If you think that your meds need to be changed then call you psychiatrist's office. Has your therapist helped you with coping skills?

Any way, Welcome. I'm sorry your on a down swing.

Things can get hard some times and making decisions on what to do is difficult. If you can stick with school, try to do it, but not if it brings you down. The only reason to try to stay with it is that the more you can keep to routines and schedules, the more helpful it is to manage being bipolar. That said...you also don't want to set yourself up for failure, so push but not too far. Therapy once a week is awesome. Depending on where you are at with your medications, 2 months is good for a psychiatrist when you are stable...1 month or less if you are making adjustments/changes.

Stay strong and things do balance out in time. It might take longer than you'd like, but it will happen.
