There's a chance. Bipolar is genetically dispositioned but environmentally activated. It might even skip a generation. One never knows, or so that's what I understand.

You can look on Nami.org for studies regarding this.

I have Zero family history of BP or any MI . Yet I have BP. My Daughter was diagnosed BP 3 months after I was , I was 43 she was 19.. Yeah I felt guilty but my daughter just kept on me to get over it . She has a wonderful life.

There are many "worse" things I could have passed along to her.

I think my mother was bipolar. I know I am. And I have one son who I highly suspect is BP and so does he, but he's in the military so he doesn't want that diagnosis hanging around his neck. But none of my other kids has it, and so far none of the grands has shown any inclination toward it. Biology is NOT destiny in this case.

True, but genetics play a part. All my parents are in denial blaming the others genealogy while my other 2 sisters ae as wacky as I am. I'm a proponent of he mental lol es in the family! Lol. Nobody wants to fess up, and just point fingers
