I am barely above a suicidal depression stage. Due to facial tics, I'm off AP. The only amount of lexapro I can take is 20mg so I don't go manic, and my pdoc said the lamictal really only helps mania. My adderral helps a little on depression, but I was wondering if others feel undermedicated for depression? Mine is much more frequent than mania which is common. Also, my sponsor was on just about the same meds for bipolar, due to tolerance and $$ she couldn't afford for Latuda, and she comitted suicide. It was a wakeup call that I can't take this lightly.

Hi,

For me lamictal has been the best mood stabilizer for BP Depression. Latuda and Abilify in that order for an AAP. Both are pricey but you can get the cost down if you shop around and/or apply for a low income case w the makers. I'm planning on posting my full Latuda experience in a post today. Best wishes.

Lamictal is for Bipolar depression. Research suggests limited or no efficacy for manic episodes.

My doctor constantly adjusts my meds until the depression is under control. Lately this has been moving me from Zyprexa to Seroquel.

Lamictal worked for my depression; however, it did very little for mania. My manic episodes were getting so bad that I now take lithium. It has been a life saver for me because the behaviors became very hard to hide at work. I am in the process of stopping the two ad's that I take. My pdoc believes that the lithium will be effective without any other drugs.
