So lately, I just have not wanted to get out of bed. I have no problem going to sleep when I want to (usually midnight or 1am). I always aim to wake up at 9am thought and I have been switching off the alarm for the past few mornings. I guess because a lot of thoughts that haunt me spike in the morning so it's easier to shut them off by going back to sleep.. Also, I'm on a winter break from college so I really do not have anywhere I need to be or anything I need to do....which is another reason I don't get up.. It's just that I'd really like to because on the mornings I do, I feel really good about myself and the day starts pretty well. Training myself to get out of bed is also really important because next semester my earliest classes MWF are 1pm and I need the morning to do classwork.
Even with all this, how can I get myself out of bed? Does anyone have tips or maybe little things that you tell yourself to convince yourself to get out of bed? Thanks! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Set the alarm up across the room where you have to stand up and walk over to it to shut it off maybe? My dog gets me up. It's nice.

I, agree. Move the clock across the room. I can't sleep with it near me because it's too tempting to just turn it off and go back to sleep.

I've been sleeping until late in the afternoon lately too, except I'm not trying to get up early. In fact, I'd probably prefer to sleep later because I find it comforting to lay in bed and relax. Also, I'm definitely avoiding reality because I too am on break from college (grad school actually...) and know things will get crazy soon
![]() I don't know...the alarm clock across the room trick seems like it would work since you'd have to get up. But also maybe cut yourself some slack while you're on break, while bearing in mind that you don't want to throw off your sleep schedule too much?

Two alarm clocks work for me.
One across the bedroom so I have to get up and shut it off, and another in the kitchen (or some room away from yours) timed to go off right after the first.

Hi Racheal
A good sleep routine is important as you know and you're missing out on the best part of the day. What about an alarm clock that suddenly turns on your favorite radio station? Don't turn it off. Just listen to it. And then get out of bed. |

I've struggled with this my entire life. I have 4 alarms for it on my phone. Unfortunately, I can turn them off in my sleep. Also, a clock outside the room (with a VERY annoying sound). Alas, I know the way back to my bed.
![]() I do find that it is easier to actually get up if I have come up with a particular thing I want to get done. |

yeah, we lack dopamine ? we need stimulation, if there is no reason to wake up its impossible to wake up... which is every day
