I'm going back to college in a few days. It's worrying me because it is always stressful. I'm most often depressed due to my BP II and the stress can often trigger it. I get lonely because everyone is usually so busy they can't hang out the times I am free. I have a very small room to myself. The food isn't so great. And sometimes I just want to eat without hundreds of people around. My family isn't around me either. And I can't play video games as much because I'll have schoolwork.

I'm concerned. This will most likely trigger me in depression which gets dangerous sometimes. At least at home I have fun and have family around often. I'm afraid it's going to be a big set back on all the coping skills I've worked on over my month break from college.

Does anyone have any tips in transitioning back into college?

Thanks!

I think I know how you feel, I've been in similar situations. I didn't exactly cope well, I just thrust myself into it and knew that eventually I'd settle in, maybe a few weeks etc.

My best advice would be to relax as much as possible and just let it flow, it will happen either way so you may as well deal with it in a neutral sort of way.

Good luck! I just started college on Monday. I am only taking 2 classes at the moment because that's all I can handle. I'm taking classes online at an accredited University. I would see what kind of programs your school has. Mine has a disability program which includes disabilities like Bipolar Disorder and such, takes them into account, and makes some accommodations for you. Since my classes are online, that would mean things like access to a school counselor, extra time on tests, one on one help. All of those things would help reduce stress. The only thing I had to do was apply then get my pdoc to write a letter explaining my diagnoses.

Oh how exciting! I remember back when starting a new day. Please don't put any dread into it and look forward to it because sure, it'll have its flavor, but you have to wait to try it to find out! The only stress of the first day is finding your classes! So enjoy it and then deal with the stressors when they happen. Don't create your own stress!
