I'm a drug monster. I can take copious amounts of illicit drugs, and do fine with licit drugs. But when it comes to antipsychotics, I'm whooped. I need it for the hallucinations.
I've only taken 3 different AP so far with less than satisfactory results.
Abilify- 5mg immediately knocks me out. I have brain zaps, I can see bright sparks in subconscious and hear a sizzling sound, much like a short circuit.
Latuda- 10mg causes wild vivid dreams leading to 4 hours of broken sleep. I snap awake in a cold sweat.
Respiradal- 2 mg instant knock out and sleep 12-14 hours. Presently on 1 mg that's been kindest to me so far, but can only deep sleep 5 hours.
Anybody else have AP difficulties? Can someone suggest an AP with less side effects?

Im very sensitive to meds in general.

Abilify-allergic, throat and tongue swells
Geodon-ocular dystonia
Risperdal-possible akathesia
Seroquel-cause extreme irritability

and so on and so on.

I'm med sensitive. I use geodon and have even gone up on the dose with no side effects except weight loss. It helped me lose 40 pounds. Knocked out my appetite.

Are you waiting for the AAPs to level off? At least a few weeks?

I'm med sensitive. right now I'm on Invega which I have had great success on. but I most likely have raised prolactin. Haven't had my period in 3 months. I've been avoiding saying anything bc it works so well I'm scared to come off it. But it's a derivative of risperdal so if you have trouble with risperdal you might have trouble with Invega. Ask to take the pill form first before you try the injectable if you do look into it.

Right on. I can barely tolerate Risperdal only at 1 mg.

I thought Latuda was going to kill me for the first month, but I toughed it out and it has settled in and made a huge difference for me. Sorry that AAPs are so rough on you.

Thanks. I don't think I can go a month with hardly any sleep! Lol

I have found Olanzapine (Zyprexa) to be very helpful with few side-effects. I hope you find one that helps you with your symptoms. Take care
