Why is it so hard to ask for help? I want to be strong and well enough to cope on my own, but I'm not. I had to ask for help with my nine-year-old, and I feel like total crap for doing it. It's only for an hour, but I feel so guilty. :-(

how many times have you been told to pull yourself up by your boot straps, youre big enough to do it by yourself, i dont have time-you can handle it on your own..........................we are programmed to believe we are better off doing things by ourselves. but there is another word......cooperation...it is working together to get a job done....it is much more effective and fun. there is nothing wrong with asking for help. we are stronger for it.

Better you ask for help than leave your son kinda hanging in the breeze.. Beating yourself up is going to amount in nothing good or productive.

Hop off the guilt train.. Life is all about struggles and needing help and support bipolar or not

Being able to ask for help is a sign of strength. Everyone needs help sometimes, and it can be really hard to ask for it, so i think it's awesome that you did. I have a hard time asking for help, so i'm always impressed by people who can do it. One of my best friends is a single mom, and she asks me and her other friends for help all the time, because she can't do it all herself. Her little girl is well loved by a bunch of adults because we have all spent time with her. It's really good. You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"? Please try to be kind to yourself.
