Sorry I'm not sure if my other topic posted. I would like to hear your guys experience with atypical antipsychotics .. I've been on latuda for two weeks and still feel like there is a demon controlling my thoughts and feelings. No desire to do anything or talk to people.

First thing if you feel that, I would advise you talk to your Pdoc.

Myself, Abilify made me more manic, but I was also taking Zoloft, Gabapentin, and Wellbutrin on it.

Geodon, just made me nuts.

No. Not an actual demon. I'm sorry I was trying to use imagery to explain the feelings I have

I find Latuda makes me more moody and irritable/angry. It has settled down a little bit as I've been on it for longer but I like the stability of Abilify better. Otherwise I kiss my Prozac for substantially reducing my anxiety and panic.

Abilify made me more manic, like needing less sleep, on the other hand I was only on it for a copule weeks, maybe that would have changed with time....I was very productive, but a bit intense.

Geodon has been my wonder drug. It doesn't make me feel spacey or anything like that. I just feel like myself. It will make you very sleepy if you take it in the morning, but I just take it in the p.m. and it helps me sleep. It didn't make me gain weight. It's the only AP I was on that arrested my mania. There was one bad side effect, and that was that it cause akathisia. But my doctor just prescribed Cogentin (an anti-seizure med) and it went away. I have not had a manic episode in four years thanks to Geodon. I think it's great.

I have a hard time with APs

Abilify- brain short circuits, see lightning
Latuda- broken sleep 4 hours Nite with vivid dreams, wake cold sweats
Respiradal- knocked out for 12-14 hours, tired
Geodon- just started trying.

Seroquel - worked for a while, but then slowed me down too much

Olanzapine - didn't really work, but i only took it when i was really unwell, so maybe nothing would have worked. Stopped it pretty quick because of fear of weight gain.

Abilify - had to stop because of akithesia

Saphris - worked well for a while but was very sedating and ended up flattening my emotions. Difficult withdrawal coming off of it

Now all i'm taking is seroquel 50 mg for sleep, but not at an antopsychotic dose. I still take lamotrigine and wellbutrin too.

If i need to restart on antipsychotics the next one i would like to try is probably Latuda. But i'm hoping not to need to do that

Anyways, despite the issues with each one, antipsychotics really helped me when i was acutely ill, and for quite a while after that. I think they have been more positive than negative overall
