I think I wrote a post about this already.
Is drinking just a couple sodas and a cup of coffee hurt?
Decrease effect of medicine?
I'm on Trazodone, Buspirone(Buspar), And Trileptal.

I've cut caffeine completely from my diet as it is one of my triggers. Really it's just trial and error. I'm sure small amounts of caffeine couldn't hurt but you'll just have to see. Ask your pdoc as well.

I've never been advised by a pdoc, or read anywhere, that caffeine impacts the effect of any medicine. I usually have 2-3 cups of caffeinated coffee a day. If you're ever manic, though, caffeine may not be the best choice.

I drink coffee every morning. I gave up smoking, doping, smogging, drinking, but I'm keeping my coffee!
Thanks for this!

Yes! Caffeine speeds up the metabolism of your meds rendering them less effective. I had to give up my beloved coffee but feel my medication is working better since. You have a decision to make.

It depends on the med you're taking. Some, it won't have any effect. Here's a list of a few different reactions:
Caffeine Effectiveness, Safety, and Drug Interactions on RxList

From a quick glance, I didn't see any of yours on the list. I was on Trazodone and Buspar for a long time and never witnessed any reaction with them; that said, caffeine DOES rev up my mania. A small cup of green tea can shoot me up when I'd otherwise have no effect.

Ugh, yes. We so do. It creeps up on me. It becomes a personal challenge to see how many cups I can have before I feel really manic. And that number is a lot lower than I generally think...

When I'm hypomanic I fuel it with coffee its a bad habit, but it makes me feel so wonderful! I know I'm in a hypomanic stage when I can't control my coffee intake!

Caffeine revs me up when I'm manic, but I can't give up my energy drinks. I've been having one a day for a few weeks.

I cut down my caffiene intake a lot. Just to one cup of coffee and one soft drink. I don't think that should mess up anything? I used to drink more, but it made me manic.

I am just having the coffee debate in my mind. Coffee is a BIG love of mine but I think it revs up my mania and right now I am in a horrid mixed episode...but I still want my coffee! It also ads to anxiety. In reality I need to ban it but perhaps not cold turkey. I 'only' have 3 coffee's a day so I think I can bring it down slowly. I too have had to come off many drugs recently like Benzo's, Alcohol, Marijuana, Anti-depressants and Lithium so I don't want to overwhelm myself just yet.

I stopped marijuana and alcohol. Never had much interest in it. Never got into a smoking habit. Coffee I love it too much, so I cut it down to one cup. I would usually have like four cups. Coffee is so good!

I rarely drink coffee but have been on a bit of a caffeine binge the last few days. I feel awful now for it. My brain is alert, I am overwhelmed and tired, boyfriend wont let me have any more coffee incase it keeps me up all night again. I wish it wasnt so good haha. I can easily cut it out though, or replace it with herbal tea. The last 3 days is the most caffeine and soft drink I have had since my party days. Feel buzzed and regretting it as Im supposed to be on a detox...

I think I just need some zyprexa to level out a bit again, I was unstable before the caffeine and soft drink binge anyway - and it did help to get me though. My body is suffering now though.
