Hello!

It seems a bit strange for me to be sitting here on the Internet looking for people to talk to, but I feellike perhaps it is time I do so. I do not really know anyone except for myself that is bipolar. I don't think it would matter really, I can be quite anti-social.

Anyway about me and then what I am looking for.

I am a 38 year old woman who was raised in the southwestern part of the United states, but I have lived in Sweden for over 15 years. I am single (twice divorced) and have a 2.5 year old with my ex-wife. We have her 50/50.

I work at a high security jail in Stockholm and of course considering the situation we are all in here, it can be tough. At the moment my doctor has me off for a few weeks to relax. (I was going on all 4 cylinders)

In my free time I usually go to the gym. I life weights about 6 times a week. It gets me out of the house and keeps me going.

I love to write, long mails about my thoughts, my day and any other normal stuff you would share with a friend. I feel like perhaps I would get more out of having a penpal who understands my illness a bit better.

Anyway I am sure it is something that comes up. I am bipolar 1 and take lithium, citroloprlam, lamictal, seroquel, levaxin, and Xanax.

So if you feel like writing let me know.

The only person I know with bp in real life ..... (Insert drum roll) ..... Is me!

The only person I know with BPD in real life ..... (Insert louder drum roll) .... Is me!

That's why I love this forum. It's a great place to connect with people who know EXACTLY what you're going through (sound of applause).

Welcome!!

Welcome. You may be shocked who you know that could be bp. I recently learned that I have two co workers and know two others that have bp. It is interesting to bounce things off others. It helps normalize some of my thoughts and feelings.

I'm bipolar, feel free to write to me anytime. I do not know any others, in real life, with BP. Only told two friends I have it, and think they may have chosen to avoid me due to that. Now I do not tell anyone about my BP. I read most of the public just do not know enough about such mental illnesses, and tend to look down on us perhaps. I was over age 60 before my psychiatrist made me understand why I had been doing things the way I did. I could be a true *** O before I got help. Now to a small degree I feel ashamed of my pass. I try not to recall much of my past but sometimes it just comes to mind. My medications are working well for me, and I gave up all bad habits like drinking anything, smoking, and such. I should exercise more however.

Hi! I am living in Norway with my son, and I have bipolar II. I like to write, recently joined PC. Even though people know about my illness, and my brother even has the same diagnosis as me, I find that having a mental illness makes it hard to make friends, and maintain friendships also. I have a few good friends, but I think I get on their nerves a lot, with my mood swings! I lived in east-coast US for close to ten years, so I sometimes feel a bit like an expat... Miss a lot of things about the states, even though I am happy to be back home in Norway also. NY/CT will always be home-away-from-home for me... Please feel free to send me a PM anytime. Would be cool to have contact with someone living in Scandinavia as well!

Plus we understand when someone says that they were so angry
and felt so powerful that they got out of their car and screamed at the person who was tailgating

Feel free to add me on FB https://www.facebook.com/sarah.dawson.5070276

It's my "second" account that I used specifically to join Bipolar and other mental health support groups and make friends with other liked minded people (because I wasn't sure if the groups were private and didn't want anything showing up on my friends newsfeed about what I posted in groups). Anyway I've had this profile for over a year now and it's great I've managed to make over 100 friends ALL from support groups who are all awesome and very supportive! And it's great because I can post and vent about my mental illness issues all I want without the fear of being judged or anything cuz all my "friends" have their own issues too! (Btw pic and name is the same, just my location is different. I'm still "me" haha)

PS: Anyone feel free to add me, just please send me a message first telling me your a friend from psych central

That's why I came back on here tonight. I'm the only one I know with bipolar. I feel different from other people I see so it's good to read these posts.

Try to enjoy your time off from work, I think we all need that from time to time.
