Been car shopping, and I've no doubt it's sent me into hypomania. I don't sleep but don't care. I am consumed with this task and will not rest until it's done. I'm contacting dealers all over the place, hundreds of miles away to get the best possible deal. No matter what I do, I cannot relax and just let it go. Every option, possible combination, runs though my head like electrons around an atom.

It's amazing what you can do on little or no sleep...but my work suffers a bit since my mind is on cars all day.

Drove the VW GTI today I'm going berzerk!

It got up to 100 very fast. Let's just say I'd be in jail if I bought it.
Back to the madness!

I am not quite sure on what advice i can give on this one, I too go through the same thing though. You get something set in your mind and you can't let it go until you have accomplished what you set out to achieve!!!! I t does tend to get a bit time consuming and exhausting when that is all you think about!!! The one thing I can say is keep it under 100!!!! Hopefully you will find the right car and soon, maybe then you can try to slow down a bit ( no pun intended!!!) Hang in there. Sorry I couldn't give better advice, just wanted to let you know I feel for ya! Good luck!! Jen

I'm not making fun of you or your situation, but when I've been that excited over a car or our present house, I sort of chilled, and my husband too, and we both had buyer's remorse. LOL!!
We even had a salesman remark that we were no longer showing anymore excitement, we remarked, "reality kicked in, buyer's remorse, we just put out a lot of money"
I do not know what to tell you as far as work, except I think anyone having a major event in their lives, this happens too, and one doesn't have to have some disorder.
I think when one is happy or excited about something, people are too readily to say we are being "hypomanic" due to stigmas put on bipolars. We also need to learn and recognize and not deny ourselves from true happiness, in fear we are heading into an episode.
We can take that up with our pdocs just to help us know the differences. I'd hate to think us bipolars would start to deny ourselves of experience some thrills in life.
I guess it's just time and experience to know if we are heading into trouble or just experienc pure joy.
Because of my DX, I will hear remarks by hubby if I'm excited/real thrilled about something we purchased or did, one such as, "are you manic" ? Personally, and with reason, I resent hearing that, for he is always buying things, not me. LOL!! So, I tell him that I think he is the bipolar in our household, not me!! LOL!
Lots of luck and keep the speeding down. I'm going berzerk!

Well, it interfered with work, my family, sleep, everything. I was out of control.

It wasn't happiness either. I was so disgusted with everything going on, so sick, so hopeless at times, trying every possible situation with every possible car. It became so tiring, but I never stopped. The number crunching, the trade offers, the negotiations, the continuous fear of making a bad deal and having buyer's remorse. I have gotten about 10 hours of total sleep this week. I was spamming my wife with emails during the day, and friends. I was so wound up it was crazy. Not tired either. I've lost weight too! I don't need food!

...but

I made a deal today and am getting the car tomorrow. I'm going berzerk!

I didn't take it up to 100 on any road tests today either.
I am definitely settling down now. And no buyer's remorse, because I'm out of my way overpriced lease, and will be purchasing an "asset" for less, and in my opinion it's a much better car.

I didn't go with that GTI. That's just not practical for the family. Also, it's a bit too street racer for me.
